This is my friend Brooke and her boyfriend Christian. I had never seen two people so in love. He was everything a girl could ask for and he treated her like a princess. He was set to leave for bootcamp this April. My heart is still aching for her. Christian passed away a couple weeks ago on January 23. His lung collapsed in his sleep. It is just a reminder that you never know what can happen. Cherish every moment you have with those you love.

Brooke posted this letter to Christian today:

Christian William Frey…Babe,

            I love you more than words can express. You were always the one to make me laugh, sing silly songs, look at something beautiful, make me mad, make me smile again with those big dimples, and feel unconditionally loved.  I will never forget the feeling of your hand in mind with those big broken knuckles, the way you just had to twirl my hair, and what it felt like to be in your arms, safe and loved. It was Christian’s world and I’m so happy and thankful that I was a part of it, even for a short time.

            I will miss hearing you tell me you love me, I heard it every day. I am so thankful that you wouldn’t let a day go by without both of us saying it. I will always say it. We are a perfect match in every way and no one can ever replace you or fill the hole you left behind. I don’t know if there is more than one person for everyone out there but if there’s not, I’m ok with that. I had my true love. You would tell me all the time you were going to marry me. You know I would have married you in a second if we could. You took me ring shopping a couple weeks ago but I already had what I wanted, my promise ring. Before you left this ring meant a promise for the future, now it is a promise that you will forever be with me.

            You left to soon but the amount of lives you touched in your short time is immeasurable. None more so than mine. You taught me what real love is and how I should be treated. You taught me how to be happy and truly find a home in someone’s arms. You got me through the hard times, celebrated the good, and always brought me my candies when they were needed. I will never find a better smile to turn to or a better shoulder to cry on. You are my everything.

            I don’t know how to go on without you, my world still revolves around you. But I know you would have wanted me to be happy. You would want all of us to be happy, as impossible as that is right now. You once told me that you believed in angels. I can only imagine what you look like with those wings. You’re probably working out right now to get your arms as big as your wings.  You were so amazing on the inside and out. You were sexy and we all know it (your favorite song).

            The love that you left behind will stay forever in my heart and I will always know how much you love me. I can only hope you know how much I love you and wanted everything for you. I still can’t believe that I really won’t see your name text me anymore or your car outside my house impatiently waiting to pick me up every day. If there’s something to be learned from your life it’s to keep my head up and love with all I have. I love you with all I have and always will. I can’t wait to see you again and feel your big arms around me holding me close. Nothing will ever compare. I’ll love you forever, like you for always, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be.

I found someone that made me truly happy, we weren’t perfect but we were perfect for each other and as broken as I am from this I am so thankful that I had the time with Christian that I did. Please do not waste your time with someone that your not truly happy with and doesn’t make you smile everyday even when your mad. I know you’ve heard this a million times before but life really is too short to spend with someone who isn’t worth your time. Respect yourselves enough to know what you deserve. Christian was someone who showed me what I deserved. As much as it kills me I would do this a hundred times over again rather than to have never met Christian at all.
